The Email Popup is a fully customizable subscription form that appears on your storefront. It can collect:
  • Email and/or WhatsApp number (at least one is required)
  • Any other contact attribute — first name, birthday, country, or a custom field you define
  • Consent, and it can start a flow when a visitor subscribes
Before you start: your Shopify store must be connected to TextYess. The popup reads your organization automatically from that connection — you never have to paste an ID. Popups are available for Shopify stores.
1

Design your popup

Open the Growth tool kit section of the menu and go to Popups. Create a new popup (or open an existing one) and use the editor to:
  • Add fields from the Form section — the two anchors (Email / WhatsApp) plus any contact attribute via Add field. You can also create a brand-new custom field inline.
  • Style the popup (theme, colors, fonts, image) and edit each field’s label, placeholder, and required state.
  • Set the display rules under Behavior: how long to wait before showing it, which pages it appears on, and how long to wait before showing it again after a dismissal.
Use the Preview button to try the popup — including typing into every field — without publishing anything.
2

Publish the popup

A popup only appears on your store once it’s Live. Click the status toggle in the top bar to publish it.
A live popup must collect at least an Email or a WhatsApp field. If neither is present, publishing is blocked.
3

Enable the TextYess app embed

From the popup’s Install panel, click Open Shopify Theme Editor. This takes you straight to your theme’s App embeds drawer with the TextYess block ready.Toggle TextYess on, then click Save.
You can also get there manually: in Shopify go to Online Store → Themes → Customize, open the App embeds drawer (the toggle icon in the left sidebar), enable TextYess, and Save.
No code required — the app embed loads TextYess for your connected store automatically.
4

Preview your store

Visit your storefront to confirm the popup appears. Remember it respects the display rules you configured — it shows after the configured delay, only on the targeted pages, and stays hidden during the dismissal cooldown.
You’re live! 🥳 New subscribers and their collected fields now flow into your contacts.

Advanced: manual embed

If you can’t use the app embed (for example, on a heavily customized theme), you can add the popup with a script tag instead. Paste the following right before the </body> tag in your theme.liquid, replacing YOUR_ORG_ID with your TextYess organization ID:
With organization_id alone, the widget shows your currently live popup. To target one specific popup, add its ID:
Prefer the app embed above — it wires your organization automatically and survives theme updates, so there’s nothing to maintain by hand.

Troubleshooting

  • Confirm the popup’s status is Live (top bar of the editor).
  • Confirm the TextYess app embed is toggled on and you clicked Save in the theme editor.
  • Check the display rules: it only appears after the delay, on the targeted pages, and not during the dismissal cooldown. Try an incognito window to bypass a previous dismissal.
  • Make sure the store you’re viewing is the one connected to TextYess.
This usually means the store is linked to a different TextYess organization. Reconnect the Shopify integration from TextYess, or contact support so we can re-point the store to the correct account.
