A connected assistant reads your store by default. You can also let it prepare work for you:
- Save an audience, so it appears in your Audiences list.
- Write a campaign draft aimed at that audience, ready for you to read.
You then open the draft in TextYess, change what you want, and send it.
An assistant can never send a message. It cannot start a campaign, schedule one, send a test message, or spend a credit. The strongest thing it can do is leave a draft waiting for you.
Turn it on
This is off for every connection until you turn it on.
Open the AI assistants page
Click your store name at the bottom of the menu, then AI assistants.
Find the assistant
Each connected assistant has its own row. The setting is per assistant, so you can allow one and not another.
Turn on 'Let this assistant prepare drafts'
The change takes effect on the assistant’s next question. You do not have to reconnect anything.
To turn it off, use the same switch. The assistant stays connected and keeps answering questions. It only stops being able to write.
Ask for a campaign
Talk to the assistant the way you would talk to a colleague:
“Using TextYess, my VIP customers who have not ordered in 90 days are going quiet. Build me an audience for them and draft a campaign with 15% off.”
The assistant then does three things:
- Counts the people first. It tells you how many customers match before it saves anything.
- Saves the audience. It appears in your Audiences list, like one you built yourself. TextYess works out who is in it, which takes under a minute.
- Writes the draft. It comes back with how many people the campaign reaches and a link to open it.
Open the link, read the message, and change anything you want. The campaign sends when you send it.
Ask for the same campaign twice and you get the same draft back, not two. If you change the wording and ask again, that is a new draft. If you already sent the first one, asking again gives you a fresh draft rather than the campaign you sent.
What you can expect
The audience takes a moment to build. Right after the assistant saves an audience, TextYess is still working out who is in it, and a campaign cannot be drafted against it until that finishes. TextYess tells the assistant to wait, but if it does not, ask it again in a moment.
The size can change before you send. The number in the draft is who matches right now, after people who asked not to be contacted and people you messaged recently are removed. TextYess counts again at the moment you send.
One assistant can save 20 audiences a day. This stops an assistant filling your Audiences page. If it asks for an audience with the same filter as one you already have, it uses yours instead of making a copy — including audiences you built yourself.
You can undo everything. Delete a draft campaign the way you delete any campaign. Delete an audience from the Audiences page. Nothing has gone out until you send it.
Who can turn this on
Anyone on your team who can open the AI assistants page, including for a connection a colleague made. The connection works with your store’s data, so everyone responsible for the store can change what it is allowed to do.
Frequently asked
Can the assistant send the campaign if I ask it to?
No. There is no way for it to send, schedule, or submit a campaign for approval. If you ask, it can only tell you the draft is ready.
Does a draft cost credits?
No. A draft sends no messages, so it costs nothing. Credits are used when you send the campaign yourself.
Can it change a campaign I already sent?
No. It creates new drafts only. It cannot edit, cancel, or delete anything you made.
Will I know which campaigns an assistant wrote?
Yes. TextYess records which assistant connection created each draft.
